Local Muslim, Sarah Khan, speaks about the religion of Islam with Our Ventura TV host, George Alger. As part of the discussion, Khan talks about the Five Pillars of Islam, the Quran (Koran) and how Muslims view Jihad and terrorism.
A Muslim, sometimes spelled Moslem, is a follower of the religion of Islam.
The Five Pillars of Islam are the framework of Muslim life. They are the testimony of faith, prayer, giving zakat (support of the needy), fasting during the month of Ramadan, and the pilgrimage to Makkah once in a lifetime for those who are able.
The Quran is the primary source of every Muslim’s faith and practice. It deals with all the subjects which concern human beings: wisdom, doctrine, worship, transactions, law, etc., but its basic theme is the relationship between God and His creatures. At the same time, it provides guidelines and detailed teachings for a just society, proper human conduct, and an equitable economic system.
Islam is one of the mostly widely practiced religions in the world.
Khan is originally an Indian Muslim. She came to to the United States 20 years ago and has since become an American citizen.
