Amanda Lynne is a spokesperson for the Landon Pediatric Foundation for Juvenile Diabetes and dedicates her “tasteful burlesque” dance career to the cause of raising awareness and resources for diabetes. In this discussion with “Our Ventura” host, Frank James Malle, Amanda talks about her personal experience with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes and describes how dance, as well as exercise in general, helps to eliminate blood sugar and balance out carbohydrates.

In this interview, Amanda also goes over the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes.

Type 1 is not curable and persons are born with it. Insulin injections are required throughout life.

Type 2 is brought on by poor diet and lack of exercise, and it’s curable.

She discusses how Diabetes can lead to heart disease and kidney failure and, in some cases, can result in a loss of limbs.

Amanda advocates more exercise for kids and touches on the benefits of an organic, low-carb diet, with lots of green vegetables and lots of protein.

She also talks about Mary Tyler Moore and her role as the International Chairman of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International.

In addition to discussing her dance career, she also talks about how she designs all the costumes for her self and her dance company. Many of her costume pieces use jewelry from MGM archives, including sequins and beads and broken jewelry from Mae West and Marlene Dietrich. Amanda has been inspired by Lady Gaga, who also makes all her own costumes. As part of this interview, Amanda presents one of her costumes that she designed.

Way to go Amanda-STAND UP FOR WHAT YOU KNOW IS RIGHT. For a while I have followed her career and the path she has taken. Ever the most moral and truthful. Ever the sweetest girl who has not let this business get the best of her. An advocate for what is right. We await your next show with open arms!

Very interesting take on very complex issue. Great insight on behalf of your guest Amanda. It is not the cure that is on the horizon, but a better way to manage.
