Nonprofit consultant, Susan Scott, speaks with Our Ventura TV host, MB Hanrahan, about nonprofits and nonprofit arts organizations.

Scott describes how nonprofits need to approach their organization in a “business like” manner and talks about some of the nonprofit challenges.

She discusses how fundraising is a primary challenge for most nonprofits and that widening the pool of donors is one solution. Scott also touches upon donor-based, local funding vs. receiving grants to finance a nonprofit.

In this interview she also emphasizes how nonprofits need to ensure they are relevant and engaging with their local community.

Scott also highlights how arts are vital to a community as cultural assets and that it can challenging to replace them if they go away.
