Anshul Bajaj speaks with George Alger about competitive robotics. Bajaj is part of a local robotics team. He describes competitive robotics as a way to engage young people in science, technology engineering, math and more.

Bajaj also outlines the annual robotics competition held by the nonprofit, First Inspires, which describes itself as “The World’s Leading Youth-Serving Nonprofit Advancing STEM Education.” (STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.)

Their “FIRST® Robotics Competition” teams design, program, and build a robot starting with a standard kit of parts and common set of rules to play in a themed head-to-head challenge. Teams also build a brand, develop community partnerships for support, and work to promote STEM in their local community.
