MB Hanrahan speaks with Phil Taggart, Poet Laureate of Ventura County. Taggart reads a poem, speaks about being a poet and touches upon his book, Rick Sings, which is about his brother who suffers from schizophrenia.

Taggart also reflects upon his appreciation of west Ventura and remarks about his photography, video work and documentary, Between Two Rivers, which celebrates Glenna Luschei, who is the founder of a small, woman-run poetry press.

He also discusses youth poetry in the community as well as mapping Ventura in poetry in conjunction with field workshops and walking tours to facilitate land literacy for a better understanding of where we live, geographically and culturally.
