Author, Karen Banfield, speaks with Leticia Flores about Ojai Valley Toastmasters and how Toastmasters helped her to better convey the message of her work. Primarily, Banfield tells a touching story about her grandmother, who spent some years waiting to die. (Her grandmother lived past the age of 102). Banfield also sings a song.

Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. By regularly giving speeches, gaining feedback, leading teams and guiding others to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere, leaders emerge from the Toastmasters program. Every Toastmasters journey begins with a single speech. During their journey, they learn to tell their stories.

Banfield’s books include: Wolf Medicine, Your Intuitive Voice and Tarantulas, Fudge and Altered Reality, all published by Yorkshire Press. The latter, Tarantulas, Fudge and Altered Reality, is described as “a collection of raw, funny and loving reflections on life. A ‘savage’ in childhood, the author takes us through her experience of boarding school, surviving music teachers, travels abroad, being a tarot card reader, mental health therapist and a hitch-hiking encounter with the Mafia, to name a few. I guarantee that Karen’s honesty and tenderhearted insights will leave you laughing, crying and wanting more.”

What a lovely story Karen it brings back memories of our time spent together at school. It seems like such a long time since we met at our reunion but this Video reminded me of the beautiful person I knew and loved. I am so proud to have been your friend if only in a time long ago. Congratulations on your success with the book and your modeling career but I know that all this glam will never change you from the friend I knew.
