Jack Dyer, co-founder of Topa Topa Brewing Company in Ventura, CA., speaks with Our Ventura TV host, George Alger, about the rise of microbreweries in California and across the United States.

A microbrewery or craft brewery produces a small amount of beer. The terms are typically applied to breweries that are much smaller than large-scale corporate breweries and are independently owned. Such breweries are generally characterized by their emphasis on quality, flavor and brewing technique.

Dyer states the quantity of microbreweries is reaching the volume from the pre-Prohibition era in the United States when many towns had their own local better brewer.

He also discusses the different beer styles, including India Pale Ale (IPA).
