Ada Lee Sullivan discusses differences and similarities between charter schools and public schools with Our Ventura TV host, Bob Taylor.

Sullivan has helped to form a charter school in Camarillo, CA and has two daughters who teach at different charter schools.

A charter school describes a school that receives public funding, but operates independently of the established public school system, in which it is located. Charter schools are an example of alternative education.

It’s the choice of the school to decide to have more autonomy and become chartered, even though they are still subject to the same requirements as the State school system. However, charter schools may elect a different path to achieve the same educational result. An example of a different path might include integrating much more parental participation in the education process.
