Downtown Ventura was transformed into a winter-holiday celebration on December 3, 2011. Santa visited via a firetruck before lighting the Holiday Tree, a mini-blizzard accompanied live music and dancing in the street, all along with the Ventura Winter Wine Walk and Holiday Street Fair. -

2011 Ventura County Fair Parade
This “Our Ventura” video condenses over two hours from the 2011 Ventura County Fair Parade into about 9 minutes. Some 85 different groups danced, sang, performed, entertained and/or waved their greetings to the thousands of spectators along Main St., in downtown Ventura. Of course the Ventura County Fair itself is taking place from Aug. 3-14 this year, at the Ventura County Fairgrounds.

Frank James Malle interviews jazz vocalist, Toni Jannotta, and guitarist, Nigel Taylor for this segment of Our Ventura. Toni and Nigel perform “Is It Magic?” Additionally, they discuss jazz history and jazz aesthetics and Toni talks about her award as Grant Recipient for Ventura County Arts Council’s “Artist in the Community Partnership Grant,” which honors and supports her “Voices of the Homeless” jazz performance project.

2011 Ventura County St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Today’s 23rd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade started marching down Main Street, in Downtown Ventura, at 10:00am. The parade featured marching bands, bagpipers, dancers, political dignitaries, hot rods, vintage cars, motorcycles, local societies, lots of green and quite a bit more.

Polly Hoganson Interviews Musician Ron Hargrave
80-years-young musician, Ron Hargrave, is interviewed by OurVentura host, Polly Hoganson. Ron moved from NY to Hollywood in 1936. He worked as a stunt man in movies and performed and sang rock and roll in the army. Ron performed with Tommy Dorsey and Jimmy Dorsey. He toured with Jerry Lee Lewis and wrote a song for a movie. He had a hit record in Japan in 1961. He also recorded for Capital and MGM records back in the 50s. In this video, Ron plays an 1835 tune from Stephen Foster on a ukelele.
