Established in 1966, the nonprofit group, Community Action of Ventura County (CAVC), has a goal to increase self-sufficiency among low-income residents while increasing family and community economic stability.
Tim Hockett, the Executive Director of CAVC, speaks about their work with Our Ventura TV host, George Alger.
CAVC has also worked to establish community centers and advocates for human rights, criminal justice, housing, health, education and economic development, but it has evolved into much more.
Community Action of Ventura County actively participates in meetings, conferences and other public forums in the areas of fundraising, public relations, policy development and evaluation that help provide a safety net of basic services accessible throughout Ventura County.
