Joe Bova, Principal of Foothill Technology High School, speaks with Our Ventura TV host, Ed Wehan, about this distinguished magnet school. “Magnet” refers to how the school draws students from across established geographical school boundaries.
Foothill Technology High School was opened in 2000 to alleviate overcrowding at Ventura’s two existing high schools (Buena High School and Ventura High School). The school has a random lottery entrance program in order to keep the number of students under their limit.
The school serves grades 9-12 in the Ventura Unified district with a focus on technology, health sciences and communications. Foothill has achieved numerous academic and co-curricular successes and features a small learning environment with only about 1000 students.
