Central America is globally important.
It contains over 7% of the world’s biodiversity and is only .1% of the world’s landmass.
In Nicaragua, many forests have been cut and wildlife hunted to extinction.
When forests are destroyed, local communities suffer too.
In 2005 ecologist Dr. Sarah Otterstrom founded the Ventura-based conservation group Paso Pacifico.
Since that time Paso Pacifico has worked with local people in Nicaragua to create and protect biological corridors spanning from ridge to reef.
We work to protect highly threatened species, and our education programs reach hundreds of rural school children each year.
We depend on your support to continue to empower communities and conserve ecosystems in Nicaragua.
