The Ventura Chamber of Commerce is a business non-profit organization focused on building a strong local economy and advocating on behalf of the business community. Ed Summers is President of the Ventura Chamber of Commerce and in this interview with Our Ventura TV host, Sandra Siepak, he discusses some of its activities.

Summers talks about what the Chamber does and how it supports the local community. He also touches upon networking and relationship building for its members.

The Chamber also plays a role as the voice of business when advocating public policy changes that stimulate and sustain growth for business resulting in the creation and retention of jobs.

Summers also talks about community development and partnerships, including their Teacher of the Month (TOTM) program, which awards one teacher each month for his/her outstanding performance in teaching and their contribution to the students at their school and within our community.

A chamber of commerce is comprised of business owners in towns and cities to advocate on behalf of the business community. Local businesses are members, and they elect a board of directors or executive council to set policy for the chamber. The board or council then hires a President, CEO or Executive Director, plus staffing appropriate to size, to run the organization.

The Ventura Chamber of Commerce works to support a strong local economy through its stewardship of city policy and business development.
