Arts and the Heart of Ventura County (31sec)

Our Ventura TV is proud to announce its 2026 Special Series: “Arts and the Heart of Ventura County – Exploring the role of local artists, arts organizations, and cultural institutions in enhancing community life and economic vitality.”

This new series showcases the diverse and often unsung contributions of the creative sector across the region, from the coast to the valleys and mountains. The series aims to illuminate how arts and culture are not just enriching activities, but are pillars of a thriving community and a significant driver of local economic health.

Our Ventura TV host, MB Hanrahan stated, “Artists are the soul of Ventura County. They give us identity, spark innovation, and create jobs.

This special series is designed to give the community a deeper understanding of the powerful, tangible impact these institutions and artists have on our daily lives. This is in addition to routine interviews built upon the long-standing Our Ventura TV theme: “People doing good things in Ventura County.”

Host, Monique Nowlin added, “This series provides a crucial platform for artists to share the journey and passion that drives them, reminding everyone that culture starts right here, at home.”

EXPLORING THE CREATIVE LANDSCAPE

The series features profiles and interviews highlighting the spectrum of Ventura County’s artistic community, including:

  • Local Artists and Creators: Telling the personal stories of painters, musicians, sculptors, performers, writers and digital artists who call Ventura County home.
  • Cultural Institutions and Arts Organizations: Taking viewers behind the scenes at museums, theaters, and nonprofits that provide education, outreach, and programming for all ages.
  • Economic Impact: Examining how the arts boost tourism, support small businesses, revitalize downtown areas, and attract talent to the county.
  • Community Enhancement: Focusing on how cultural programs are used for education, wellness, therapy, and fostering social connection and dialogue among residents.

“We see firsthand how accessible cultural programs transform lives, especially for our youth and underserved populations,” said host, Sandra Siepak. “This series will beautifully illustrate how our creative sector is truly an engine for positive social change.”

Beyond the social benefits, the series also dives into the practical data that keeps our region thriving. This perspective is echoed by leadership, noting that the arts are as much about the bottom line as they are about the heart.

“The creative economy is a powerful, yet often undervalued, revenue stream for Ventura County,” emphasized Our Ventura TV Director, Michelle Hoover. “The arts directly fuel our local businesses, and provide a critical economic role.”
