Audrey Darrett speaks with Monique Nowlin about the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP).

The Ventura County Area Agency on Aging’s (VCAAA) HICAP program provides free and unbiased counseling to, and advocacy for, Medicare recipients and those who will soon be receiving Medicare.

Trained volunteer counselors offer objective information and provide assistance with problems relating to Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans, supplemental (Medigap) insurance policies, long-term care insurance, and prescription drugs.

My husband was recently diagnosed with a progressive disease called myasthenia gravies He is currently in
A skilled nursing home. We have medicate and a supplemental ins FEP blue cross/blur shield. After 90 days of Medicare by supplemental kicks in and I have to pay $175/day. If it becomes long term it will cost me 1500/per month. I do have assets and a retirement 401/k. Is there anyway I can protect my assets and not go in debt please call me at 805 444-5667 thank you.
