Brava to Joanie Blaxter. I was vegetarian and ultimately macrobiotic from the ages of 13 to 73 (I am now 82). I was always healthy and athletic as a vegetarian but my weight was a constant struggle. When I reached 300 pounds (while working out daily as a weight-lifter), I decided to eliminate all plant foods and I became a carnivore. Psychologically, it was an immense struggle. Physically, I knew immediately that animal protein was my natural food. I lost 145 pounds without struggle or cravings. I still feel a twinge of guilt because of the slaughter of animals.I do have genetic health issues but I take no medicine; I feel like the oldest living teenager in America.
