Audrey Darrett speaks with Monique Nowlin about the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP).
The Ventura County Area Agency on Aging’s (VCAAA) HICAP program provides free and unbiased counseling to, and advocacy for, Medicare recipients and those who will soon be receiving Medicare.
Trained volunteer counselors offer objective information and provide assistance with problems relating to Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans, supplemental (Medigap) insurance policies, long-term care insurance, and prescription drugs.

A skilled nursing home. We have medicate and a supplemental ins FEP blue cross/blur shield. After 90 days of Medicare by supplemental kicks in and I have to pay $175/day.
